Agency for Regulation of Medical and Pharmaceutical Activities in Georgia

The Agency for Regulation of Medical and Pharmaceutical Activities is a Legal Entity Under Public Law (LEPL) in Georgia, under the authority of the Ministry of Health of Georgia. The agency is responsible for controlling and enforcing Georgian legislation and regulating medical and pharmaceutical businesses. It ensures compliance with the Georgian legislation by conducting monitoring, inspection, and auditing of medical facilities, checking the quality of medical service provision, and pharmaceutical products distributed in Georgia.

The agency also maintains a registry of compliant entities, a list of permitted drugs and medicaments, monitoring records, and others. The agency is an important partner, especially in the process of the establishing Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) standard for pharmaceutical companies in Georgia. The pharmaceutical companies which are supported by UNIDO will ultimately have to work with the agency since it is responsible for issuing permits and licenses for medical and pharmaceutical companies, the manufacturing of medicinal products, and registration of permitted drugs and medicines in Georgia.
